A healthy new year?

Tilligerry Peninsula residents have the unique opportunity to enlist professional help to ensure their health is in top condition – and the best part is, it’s free!

Primary Health Care Nurse Susan Neuner will be conducting fortnightly health screenings from Tuesday 20 January 2009, with no appointment necessary.

Locals are encouraged to drop in and see Susan to undergo a basic health check, discuss their healthcare needs and find out how best to access services relevant to them.

“It’s all about improving access to community-based health services and providing health education for the local community,” Ms Neuner said.

“The fortnightly screenings will help residents to become more aware of potential health problems and promote wellness especially around preventing diabetes and increasing physical activity.  People with existing health problems can be supported in establishing and maintaining effective self-management strategies, and for those that need further assessment, we can refer them back to their GP.

“It’s a great opportunity for locals to get an assessment of where they are at with their health, discuss any concerns they may have and find out where they can get further support.”

The screenings are part of the Regional Health Services Program, which focuses on improving health through working closely with the community and the early identification of potential health issues.
