Thank you to hardworking volunteers
21 December 2009
A celebration of the hard work and dedication of the volunteers at Narrabri Community Health will be held this Wednesday (23 December) with a celebratory morning tea.
Narrabri Community Health Manager, Margo Carberry, will recognise 12 volunteers for their outstanding contribution to the Community Health Day Centre and present them with certificates and a small gift.
This special event is a follow-up to International Volunteers Day which was held earlier this month.
Ms Carberry said the morning tea will provide an important opportunity to publicly acknowledge the Day Centre’s volunteers.
“Volunteers play a vital role in running the Narrabri Community Health Day Centre group. Their ongoing commitment and dedication makes such a huge difference to the wellbeing of our clients, and the morning tea is a small gesture to extend a big thank you,” Ms Carberry said.
“Our Community Health volunteers provide friendship, commitment and generosity of spirit, as well as enhance the care that our staff bring to the well-being of our clients. The extra support volunteers provide to the clients is immeasurable and it plays an integral part in providing high standards of care to our clients.”
The theme for National Volunteer Week 2009 was Volunteers: Everyday People, Extraordinary Contribution.
“This theme carries the message that everyone has something of value to offer and that every volunteer’s contribution, no matter how big or small, is extraordinary because that person cares enough to be a volunteer,” Ms Carberry said.
“The theme acknowledges the enormous contribution of volunteers and the value of volunteering. It also encourages new volunteers by reinforcing the fact that people from all walks of life can become a volunteer.
“Volunteering is a great way to make a difference to your community. It not only provides assistance to others, but it can also be a very rewarding experience for volunteers.”
