4 August 2009

Glen Innes Community Health Centre now boasts a full complement of health staff, with recent additions boosting the close-knit health team.

There are now 18 full-time staff employed at Glen Innes Community Health Centre, including nursing, allied health and administration staff.

Glen Innes Health Service Manager Cathryn Jones said the enviable staffing position enabled the Community Health Centre to provide a comprehensive range of services, including community nursing, child and family health, mental health, and drug and alcohol counselling.

Clinics also offered within the facility include a foot clinic, dietitian services, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, speech therapy and audiometry

“Our recruitment success in the face of the high demand for health professionals in regional areas is a direct result of teamwork and focused effort,” Ms Jones said.

“We have worked hard to make Glen Innes Health Service an attractive location for professional practice and career development. It’s wonderful that we are able to continue to attract experienced, highly-skilled staff who can offer much-needed services to the local community.

“It just goes to show that the caring, professional attitude of staff at Glen Innes Health Service and the family-friendly lifestyle Glen Innes can offer are helping to attract experienced health professionals to the area.”

Glen Innes Community Health has welcomed three new staff members to its dedicated and hardworking team during 2009.

A Social Worker, Physiotherapist, and Alcohol and Other Drugs Counsellor have joined the ranks since the start of the year, with Glen Innes Health Service Manager Cathryn Jones saying all new staff had settled in well to their new roles.

These new additions boost the ranks of long-serving Community Health staff, some of whom have been working for the health service for more than 30 years.

Occupational Therapist Melissa Hill said Glen Innes Community Health team members were a fantastic group of people to work with.

“We are really lucky to have such a supportive team at Glen Innes. We share skills and resources, and can always rely on each other for professional support.
We also have a lot of fun which makes coming to work a positive experience,” Melissa said.
