New Manilla manager has open door policy
13 August 2009
The Manilla Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) would like to welcome new Manilla Health Service manager Tim Whyte to his new role.
Tim began work in the position last week, meeting many of the Manilla Health Service staff and residents and getting to know the health needs of the community.
Manilla LHAC chairman Dick Hagan said the conversations he’d had with Mr Whyte during the week were promising.
“He will be a good fit for Manilla because he shares the LHAC’s ideas about how the health service should be run to suit the needs of the community,” Mr Hagan said.
“We welcome him to his new role and look forward to working closely with him.”
Mr Whyte has extensive experience in health and has worked in a range of disciplines that have prepared him well for his new challenge.
He was originally a registered nurse and worked at Maitland Hospital, and for the past four years has been part of HNE Health’s Innovation and Reform Unit – a department that oversees positive changes in the service and delivery of new clinical practice.
“Most recently I was acting manager of Wee Waa Community Health, which helped me to learn about the needs of a busy township like Manilla,” Mr Whyte said.
“I’m looking forward to being available to Manilla residents to talk about what they believe is working well at the health service and how we can do things better.
“I have an open-door policy, so the community should feel welcome to talk to me about what’s happening with their health service.”
Mr Whyte said he was committed to his position and was looking forward to heading operations at Manilla Hospital in the long term.
“Manilla is already a great health service,” Mr Whyte said. “The staff here really love caring for their community, and once the new health service is built we’ll be even better equipped to provide the best service possible.”
