Free Family Fun Day in Glen Innes
A huge free Family Fun Day will be held in Glen Innes to get families out in the spring weather to enjoy each other’s company.
The day will include a free barbecue, music entertainment, jumping castle and an information marquee where everyone can find out what services are available to them in Glen Innes.
One of the Family Fun Day coordinators, Social Worker Louise Morley, said the day is shaping up to be an exciting event.
“We’ve got lots planned to make it a great day out for the entire family,” Louise said.
“Local government and non-government agencies will be represented so anyone who attends will be able to receive information on the services that are available to them within the local community.
“Often community members are unaware of organisations that are available when they, a friend or family member requires help.
“It’s important that people know where to turn for help so they can assist their own families to address difficult issues.
“It will also be a great networking opportunity for community organisations. It’s important for us to know what other services are available so we can refer people in need to the most appropriate service.
The Family Fun Day was developed to combine celebrations for some special annual awareness weeks such as Child Protection Week (September), Foster Care Week (October) and Domestic Violence Week (December).
We are hoping that many families will attend and enjoy the day and also take the opportunity to speak with some of the people working in the community services.
The day will be proudly presented by the Glen Innes Child Protection Committee, which includes representatives from Glen Innes Community Health, Department of Community Services, Glen Innes Youth and Family Support and Glen Innes Shire Council.
