Manilla Family and Community Expo, Saturday 18 October, 9.30am

Manilla community residents have the unique chance to learn and be entertained at the Manilla Family and Community Expo this month.

The event, to be held at the Manilla Small Town Hall on Saturday, 18 October, aims to spread the word about the services and support available to families in the community.  It is being organised by the Manilla Early Years Committee and supported by Hunter New England Health.

Berniece Simpkins from Tamworth Family Support Services said the event was planned to coincide with National Children’s week as well as the Manilla Preschool Annual Open Day.

“Families will have the opportunity to learn about the various services available to them, including in health, education, through TAFE and Centrelink,” she said.

“Representatives from a range of organisations, including job agencies, will offer interactive activities along with information handouts to take home. Information will also be available on other community groups such as family day care, craft and sporting groups.”

While the grown-ups are learning about local services, the kids can have some fun with plenty of entertainment on offer.  They can enjoy the jumping castle and be entertained by special guest Reader Roo will read stories throughout the morning.

There will also be a sausage sizzle available for lunch. The day starts at 9.30am and will run until midday.
