A big welcome to Boggabri’s new community advisors
Two new community members have been appointed the Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) at the Boggabri Multi Purpose Service (MPS).
Robin Maunder and David Gillham, who are both very well-known and respected community members have joined the ranks of the committee, to provide advice to the local Health Service Managers on local needs, service planning and community consultation.
Health Service Manager at Boggabri MPS, Shirley Ackland said recently Brian Prince and Adele O’Connell resigned from Boggabri LHAC after many years of service.
“I would like to thank them both for their contributions over that time. Adele was a member of the inaugural Multi Purpose Advisory Committee and involved in the planning and development stage of the new Multi Purpose Service”, Ms Ackland said.
“The committee is now back to its full complement of five members. Ms Maunder and Mr Gillham will join Ken Bates, Gail Tumbers and Marion Macleod already serving on the LHAC.
“I am looking forward to working with the LHAC as they provide advice to the health service based on members’ experience, involvement in activities and commitment to the local community,” Ms Ackland said.
Committee Chairperson Marion Macleod said it was her second term on the LHAC at Boggabri and she looked forward to keeping the community of Boggabri informed about activities and important health information from the MPS.
“We are holding a ‘year in review’ public meeting to help keep the community up- to-date with events and happenings at the MPS,” Ms Macleod said.
Service Manager of Newcastle’s Rankin Park Rehabilitation Centre Ian O’Dea will be the guest speaker, talking about the care of older people, frailty and chronic disease prevention.
The community and media are invited to attend, on 21 October at the Boggabri RSL at 7pm.
