All the fun of the Easter Fair
4 March, 2008
The Glen Innes United Hospital Auxiliary (UHA), in conjunction with the Glen Innes Health Service will be holding an Easter Fair on Saturday 15 March 2008 in the hospital grounds.
This year the UHA will be donating all proceeds from the day towards a mobile Ultra Sound Unit which will be used in the emergency department and maternity unit.
Health Service Manager Cathryn Jones said the Easter Fair would be a major fund raiser for the hospital and encouraged everyone to come along to have fun, pick up a bargain and at the same time, support the local health service.
“Along with the usual unknown treasures from the White Elephant Stall, tantalising cakes from the cake stall, creative crafts from the craft stall, proficient plants from the plant stall and abundant fruit and vegetables from the produce stall, there would be fun activities for the entire family,” Mrs Jones said.
“Our local school children will be performing special events throughout the morning and there will also be a colouring-in competition with all infants school children invited to participate.
“The Glen Innes Ulysses Club will once again be offering motor bike rides to all who dare to let their hair down and there will be face painting for the little ones.
“The Masonic Lodge will be having a Shave Off to raise funds for Leukaemia Research. Our own Dr Ross Haron and also Colin (Tad) Sharman will be stepping forward for this important event,” she said.
“St Vinnies will be conducting a Fashion Parade of all that is pre loved and we will also be having the ‘Dunking Machine’ for the first time this year. Come along and see which of our local celebrities look their best, totally saturated’.
“The Lions Club and Leo’s Club will be on hand with their food van, starting at 8.00am for those who left home without breakfast to get here for the bargains,” Mrs Jones said.
Local members of parliament Tony Windsor (Federal Member for New England) and Richard Torbay (NSW Member for Northern Tablelands) will be present to officially open the Easter Fair along with Glen Innes Severn Mayor Steve Toms and Deputy Mayor Col Price.
“We have also invited outside store holders to participate, a site fee of $25.00 is required for this. If you would like to have a stall, please contact Jan Sharman 6732 2001 or the Hospital on 6739 0200,” she said.
Mrs Jones said everyone in the community was encouraged to come along.
“Enjoy the day, and maybe give a little to your local health service,” she said.
