Full accreditation for Tamworth hospital
Staff at Tamworth Hospital will celebrate with a barbecue lunch, Friday 11 July, after receiving official notification from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) that the Tamworth and Armidale Hospital Group has received full accreditation for a further four years.
General Manager of Tamworth and Armidale Hospitals Fergus Fitzsimons said the accreditation process is essential to ongoing improvements and delivery of high-quality services to patients.
“Obtaining accreditation is a significant achievement that proves to the community that we are committed to delivering quality patient care and services,” Mr Fitzsimons said.
“All aspects of the hospital’s operations are put under the microscope, challenged and tested as part of this rigorous process.
“It requires enormous cooperation and commitment from staff at all levels and that is why we are putting on a celebration to thank everyone for their effort and support in achieving accreditation.”
Mr Fitzsimons said no stone is left unturned throughout the ACHS accreditation process.
“Basically ACHS surveyors apply a fine tooth comb approach to our entire organisation surveying more than 40 criteria points including:
• Delivery of high-quality care
• Provision of a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff
• Promotion of positive health messages to the community
• Provision of information and access to appropriate health care to the community
“Achieving accreditation provides assurances to people receiving care in our organisation that we conform to industry standards, we apply accountability for the care we provide and that the best systems are in place to identify and eradicate problems should they arise,” he said.
The accreditation celebration barbecue lunch will be held at Tamworth Hospital on Friday 11 July from 12pm.
