Thanks Jenny, from the Werris Creek Community Hospital

After more than five years as a Generalist Community Nurse at Werris Creek Community Hospital, Jenny Stewart is headed south for a change of scenery.

It’s a move Jenny is taking reluctantly, following her husband as he pursues a career in local government at Tumut, near the Snowy Mountains.

“I will be very sad to leave Werris Creek, my role has been challenging but it’s also been a wonderful experience,” Mrs Stewart said.

“There’s never been a dull moment as a Community Nurse, looking after a broad range of people, from visiting the elderly in their home, to organising health promotion and education programs and to providing support for early discharge patients,” she said.

“Werris Creek has a fantastic community spirit. It has been a great environment with which to foster my nursing experience, while helping to keep the community healthy. The health service I provide has always been well-utilised and the people I care for are very grateful for everything I do,” she said.

Health Service Manager Kylie Marquart said Jenny’s skills have been an invaluable part of the Werris Creek Community Hospital, developing a rapport with the local people through her commitment in delivering a quality health service.

“Jenny will be sorely missed, but we would like to reinforce to the community her work will continue,” Ms Marquart said.

Registered Nurse Margaret Caterer will fill Jenny’s shoes, covering the majority of her shifts until a replacement community nurse is recruited. A community health nurse will be available between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday for the Werris Creek community.

“The next few years will be an exciting time for the current nursing staff at Werris Creek Community Hospital and people joining our team, as Hunter New England Health moves forward in planning for a new Multi Purpose Service.” she said.

Jenny will work her last shift on Friday 12 December.
