All Tamworth Hospital grad nurses to stay
1 December 2008
Tamworth Hospital is pleased to announce all 18 of the new nurse graduates who undertook the New Nurse Graduate Program in 2008 will continue working at Tamworth Hospital in 2009.
Tamworth Hospital Acting Director of Nursing Ricki Bradbery said the good news was proof the hospital provides a great experience for nurses starting their career.
“The graduates have been an important and valuable addition to our staff and we’re happy all 18 of them are staying in 2009,” Mrs Bradbery said.
“Congratulations must also go to all the staff who help the graduates make the smooth transition from university to work on the wards.
“A lot of time and effort goes into ensuring the program is rewarding and enjoyable for our new nurses, in the hope they will decide to stay and work in Tamworth.”
New nurse graduate Emily Daley, from Avalon, began working at Tamworth Hospital in February after graduating from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Emily is overjoyed that she has been offered a full-time nursing position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“I’m really looking forward to getting more experience in critical care,” Emily said.
“It was my first preference when I applied to stay here, so I’m really happy.”
Emily, who worked a rotation through ICU, paediatrics, rehabilitation, and the medical and surgical wards, said her first year at Tamworth Hospital had been a great start to nursing.
“All of the staff have been very supportive and I’ve had a lot of opportunity to further my education,” Emily said.
“I’m really glad I started out here in Tamworth – it’s been a great year.”
Emily Daley and Ricki Bradbery will be available for interviews, photographs and footage today (Monday 1 December) at 10am.
