Thank you’s all round at Bulahdelah Hospital

Ten magnificent ladies, who have clocked up more than 120 years of service between them for the Bulahdelah United Hospital Auxiliary (UHA), were formally thanked by Lower Mid North Coast Cluster General Manager, Ken Hampson, at a special afternoon last week.

Mr Hampson said that the afternoon tea was to thank all members of the local UHA for their fundraising effort and their commitment to the Bulahdelah Hospital.

“This group of ladies are loyal, hardworking and never falter in their efforts to raise funds for the hospital. Their efforts greatly support the staff in their efforts to provide the highest quality health care services to their local community,” Mr Hampson said.

“They are constantly fundraising and have purchased equipment such as monitors and electric beds. Having the latest equipment enables the staff to keep up to date with models of care and treatments.”

Mr Hampson said he had great pleasure in thanking Mrs Betty Kitchin, Mrs Hazel Towers, Mrs Ivy Smith, Mrs Elsie Murrell, Mrs Phil Harvey, Mrs Irene Dorney, Mrs Emmie Griffis, Mrs Nancy Smith, Mrs Phyllis Haynes, and Mrs Fay Morgan.

He particularly congratulated the longest serving member, Mrs Hazel Towers who has given 40 years of service to the community.

The afternoon tea was also an opportunity for the UHA members to welcome the new Bulahdelah Health Service Manager, Maureen Tarrant, who recently started in her new position.

Mr Hampson said he welcomed the appointment of Ms Tarrant who previously worked as the Deputy Director of Nursing at Singleton Hospital and also as a Patient Safety Officer with Hunter New England Health’s Clinical Governance Unit.

“Maureen brings a great deal of experience to the position and is looking forward to working with the UHA and other members of the community, to continue to provide quality health care services into the future,” he said.

“It gives me enormous pleasure to see dedication, and I am so very fortunate to have dedicated staff and volunteers at Bulahdelah. It makes me very proud,” Mr Hampson said.
