Roll up for a good cause

The Armidale community is being invited to have a roll this month for a good cause.

The Armidale Hospital Auxiliary is holding a charity lawn bowls day on 26 September at Armidale Bowling Club to raise money for the hospital, and people of all ages are invited to attend.

Auxiliary secretary Lyn McKay said the day was a great chance for people to show their support for the hospital and have some fun at the same time.  She encouraged people of all ages to come along, whether they have played bowls before or not.

“I have only played once before, a long time ago!” she admitted.

“But bowls is no longer an old person’s sport – it is going to be a fun day for all so everyone is welcome to attend.”

The competition will be played in teams of three (‘triples’) so people can register as teams, or individually and be placed in a team on the day.

Cost is $5 to cover green fees, which the club will donate back to the Auxiliary.

All money raised will help further fulfill Armidale Hospital’s ‘Wish List’ for new equipment, towards which the Auxiliary donated $31,000 earlier this year.

Registrations will be taken up until 11am on the day.  For further information or registration, phone Bob Adams from the Bowling Club on 6772 5666.

Media opportunity: Members of the Armidale Auxiliary are available for photo opportunities on the bowling green upon request.
