Maitland information session for Hunter carers
19 September 2007
Hunter New England Health is inviting carers from all over the Hunter to attend a carer and family information evening to further their understanding of the person they are caring for and the support services available.
The Carer and Family Information Evening will be held on Wednesday 26 September from 5.30pm to 9pm at the Monte Pio, Corner New England Hwy and Dwyer Streets, Maitland.
“We are encouraging people who are carers to come along to this information forum because we are covering range of topics, including stress management, practical skills and community resources,” EDuCARE Support Service Manager Ross Blue said.
“It’s also a great opportunity for carers to get information about free carer resources that may help them in their roles as carers,” Ms Blue said.
Carers can be parents, partners, brother, sisters, friends, neighbours or children of any age, who care for someone a couple of hours a week or all day every day - all are encouraged to attend the information session.
The event is free of charge and will include supper from 7pm. Seating is limited and booking is essential.
Respite care may be arranged if needed.
Those wishing to attend the Carer and Family Information Evening should contact Kathy at the EDuCARE Support Service on 4921 4895, prior notice of attendance is necessary for catering purposes.
