Engineer of the Year is the prestigious title awarded to Alf Newman, based at Inverell Hospital, who was commended by the Institute of Hospital Engineering for his dedicated hard work and commitment to the health service since 1983.
Nominated by Hunter New England Health’s Area Facilities General Manager, Brett Evans, Alf was described as a most valued engineer who now provides oversight and direction to facility management staff across the northern part of Hunter New England Health.
“I have personally known Alf since the early nineties and it has been a real pleasure to be his manager,” Brett said.
“Alf is extremely likeable, knowledgeable, and talented as a Hospital Engineer. He is extremely well liked by the hospital managers and his staff.
“Alf also has great skills in dealing with all types of emergencies that crop up at any of our many sites. He is calm and comes through as a shinning light.”
Alf recently received his award at a presentation in Sydney which also included registration to the Annual Institute of Hospital Engineering Conference in Melbourne and an accommodation package.
