Tamworth Hospital hosts successful revue
16 November 2007
Last Friday and Saturday nights Tamworth Hospital staff took to the stage at Tamworth Town Hall to perform to an impressive crowd in the Tamworth Hospital Revue.
The Beating Hearts Orchestra as well as impersonators and poets were intermingled with genuine talent and solo performances from artists including Leanne Coddington - this year’s Country Music Queen.
The Revue featured everything from nuns to sequined hot-pants in a range of acts spanning musical genres and generations, according to Nurse Unit Manager Robyn Pittman, who also maintained that the event brought all ranks within the hospital together.
“We had performances from ABBA impersonators who gave a fantastic impression of Waterloo and Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ was appropriated to ‘Like a Surgeon’ - and they were genuinely funny acts,
“It was such a collaborative effort, we had everyone from doctors to cleaners to nursing staff working together,” Ms Pittman said.
The purpose of the event was to raise money for Tamworth Hospital. Ms Pittman had originally made $10,000 the target for the revue and the total raised by the performance and raffle ticket sales is expected achieve that target.
A funding boost was also received from the Tamworth Lions Club who donated almost $65,000 to the hospital for new equipment including stress-testing equipment, gamma probe, fetal heart monitor and a heart defibrillator.
The Revue included three raffle prizes going to various members of the public at Tamworth Town Hall over the weekend.
Raffle winners included:
3rd place: Terry White - Quarter side of Beef
2nd place: Karen Rock - Quilt
1st place: C. Marshall – Night for two at The Powerhouse
