Hospital Auxiliary donation to Maitland Hospital Emergency Department

Hospital Auxiliary donation to Maitland Hospital Emergency Department

The Maitland Hospital Auxiliary has made another donation to the hospital, this time to the Emergency Department for new equipment.

The Auxiliary donated $15,495 to purchase a new bladder scanner for the department.

The bladder scanner is a diagnostic device that let the medical staff know if a patient is emptying their bladder when you pass urine.

The new bladder scanner is an upgrade in current equipment.

The Maitland Hospital General Manager Sandra Platt thanked the auxiliary for its continuing support of the hospital.

“We are sincerely grateful to our Auxiliary members who work tirelessly in raising money to support the hospital,” she said.

“In the past nine months the auxiliary has donated around $30,000 to the hospital and this has allowed us to buy a number of pieces of equipment including a blood pressure monitor, urinalysis machine, paediatric oxygen saturation monitor, breathalyzer, bedside Coaguchek machine, thermometer and magnifying lamp.”

“All of these items assist in expediting clinical care to the patients that present to the Emergency Department and we are most appreciative to the hospital auxillary for these donations.”

The Auxiliary raised the money through cake stalls, raffles and a lamington drive.
