Gunnedah After Hours Security Arrangements

To ensure the safety and security of patients and staff at Gunnedah Health Service, a range of after-hours security measures are in place each night.

Gunnedah Health Service Manager Carole Young said that after 5pm, anyone wishing to access the hospital must enter through the Emergency Department.

“We have had this system in place for some time, however it is important we  reinforce these measures  to the community to remove any confusion about how to access the hospital after-hours,” Ms Young said.

From 5pm daily, all external doors except the Emergency Department are locked and anyone visiting or trying to access the health service must enter through the Emergency Department.

The Emergency Department is locked between 8pm and 7am daily, and – during this time access can be obtained by ringing the bell located at the Emergency Department doors.

A series of posters will also be displayed throughout the hospital to help educate the public, patients and staff about after-hours security arrangements.
