3rd Annual New England Dementia Forum

Hunter New England Health, in partnership with the New England and North West Slopes Divisions of General Practice, the Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care (DADAHC), as well as Home and Community Care (HACC Development Inc), is again hosting its annual Dementia Forum.

 

When: 10.00am – 3.00pm, Wednesday 1 August 2007

Where: University Department of Rural Health (in the grounds of Tamworth Hospital)

 

Who:  110 registrations from workers ranging across acute and community health services, residential aged care facilities, as well as community service providers will be attending. As in previous years, they are looking forward to sharing the latest in dementia care and the opportunity to meet other service providers to improve networking of services.

 

The theme for the Forum is ‘Driving Dementia Care’ with presentations from:

 

·        Dr John Ward (Clinical leader, Aged Care and Rehabilitation Network, Hunter New England Health) – speaking on Dementia and Driving

·        Dr Peter Harradine (Medical Director, Rehabilitation Services, Tamworth Hospital) speaking Aged care in rural communities

·        Dr Gerry DeGabrielle (Geriatrician, Armidale Hospital) speaking on Medications and the Elderly

·        Patsy Bourke (Falls Project Coordinator, HNE Health) speaking on Falls Prevention

·        Plus after lunch there will be presentations regarding the Living with Memory Loss program and a Carer’s story.
