Off-site parking closed for Christmas

Hunter New England Health’s off-site parking and shuttle bus service from Energy Australia Stadium to John Hunter Hospital will not be available from Monday 24 December 2007 through until Friday 11 January 2008, with normal services resuming on Monday 14 January.

Acting Director of Corporate Services Mark Jeffrey said the shuttle bus service is being temporarily suspended over the Christmas/New Year period.

“During late December and early January, it is much easier to find a park at John Hunter Hospital because we don’t have as many people coming into hospital and many staff take holidays,” Mr Jeffrey said.

Mr Jeffrey said patronage of the free off-site parking and shuttle bus service is steadily increasing.

“We’re very pleased that people are taking advantage of the service and we hope that even more people will use it in 2008,” Mr Jeffrey said.

“It’s quick and convenient and we’re getting some very positive feedback from visitors.”

When the off-site parking service resumes on Monday 14 January, members of the public attending appointments or visiting any of the hospitals on the Rankin Park Campus, can park their car at Energy Australia Stadium and catch a free shuttle bus to the hospital.  A parking attendance is on site at Energy Australia Stadium throughout the day to maintain the security of vehicles.  The service operates between 9.00am and 3.00pm, Monday to Friday.
