22 June 2007
People from the Raymond Terrace and Port Stephens West region interested in undertaking an important role in the health of their community are being invited to fill vacancies in the Port Stephens West Health Advisory Committee.
Raymond Terrace Community Health Centre Nurse Unit Manager Wendy Carters said there are three vacancies on the committee, which provides valuable input on behalf of the Port Stephens West community to the local health service.
“We need three enthusiastic community members who have an interest in health to fill places on the local health advisory committee,” Ms Carters said.
“Committee members have a valuable role to play by providing advice and input to the local health service on the provision of health services in the Port Stephens West region,” he said.
“We are looking for people who have a wide network of local connections and knowledge that can help us foster two-way communication between the health service and the community.”
The Port Stephens West Health Advisory Committee provides advice and input to the health service on a range of issues including:
· Health service needs of the local community;
· Development of local health service strategic plans; and
· Local health service delivery
“We have an exciting time ahead in terms of the development of health services in this region, in particular with the recent announcement that Raymond Terrace is a future site of a HealthOne facility,” Ms Carters said.
“Further planning is now being undertaken for this project and I’m sure this exciting project will be a key focus on the agenda for the Health Advisory Committee to ensure community involvement in the plans and development of the service,” she said.
“If you have an interest in health and are keen to become involved, then we invite you to apply for membership on this committee,” Ms Carters said.
Application forms and further information about these positions can be obtained from Wendy Carters, Nurse Unit Manager of Raymond Terrace Community Health by telephoning 4987 2078. Applications close on 13 July.
