Second Access Road for John Hunter Campus

The $7.5 million second access road to The Rankin Park campus was officially opened on Monday 26 November 2007.

The second access road is an important milestone for Hunter New England Health and people visiting the Rankin Park campus.

The Rankin Park campus has grown significantly since John Hunter Hospital opened and the new road improves access and traffic flow for our patients, visitors and staff.

The second access road off Lookout Road near the intersection of Carrington Drive, meets with Jacaranda Drive in the hospital grounds. This connects visitors to the John Hunter Hospital, Royal Newcastle Centre, Newcastle Private Hospital, Hunter Rehabilitation, Rankin Park Unit and visitor car parking.

Hunter New England Health would like to acknowledge the collaborative efforts to build this road. The Roads and Traffic Authority constructed the intersection and internal roads and looked after traffic management issues during construction, and Bovis Lend Lease managed the project on behalf of the Area Health Service.

Hunter New England Health has installed new signage to help direct people who enter the campus via the second access road, and Interpark staff are on hand to assist drivers where necessary.
