Welcome to the Multicultural Health Unit

The Multicultural Health Unit assists the Hunter New England Area Health Service to ensure that people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds receive:

• equity of access to public health services;

• culturally and linguistically appropriate health care; and

• information about their health, so that they can make informed decisions.

The Multicultural Health Unit provides a range of services, including:

• Health Care Interpreter Service (HCIS)

• NSW Rural Health Care Interpreter Service

• Multicultural Health Liaison

• Refugee Health Clinic

• Education and advice to Hunter New England Health staff on multicultural health issues
