Multicultural Health Liaison Program - Acute Care
The Multicultural Health Liaison team in Acute Care support staff who care for patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD) and the Deaf.
Their role includes
Visiting patients in the wards
Checking that CALD patients and the Deaf understand diagnosis and treatment
Checking that professional health care interpreters are booked as required by NSW Health policy directives
Verifying documentation in relation to the attendance of interpreters
Providing cultural support for patients whenever appropriate
Checking patients’ satisfaction with care provided
Providing staff with information and contact details relating to available multicultural materials and support networks.
