Aim

To develop a systematic approach to managing airway emergencies

Outline

This course will provide a foundation in airway management for clinicians working independently, or with limited support or supervision, in acute care settings and rural and remote areas.  At the end of this course you will have an individual airway management plan tailored to your setting and your skills. 

Topics include:

  • Equipment selection
  • Rapid sequence induction
  • Strategies for failed intubation and difficult airway
  • ‘Rescue’ techniques including surgical airway
  • Teamwork during clinical emergencies
