Smoking
Smoking is the single greatest cause of premature death in NSW and smoking among young adults in the Hunter New England region is generally higher than for the rest of NSW.
HNEPH's work in this Area
Hunter New England Population Health aims to reduce tobacco related harm in the community and prevent young people starting smoking by:
- providing information and support to smokers to quit smoking.
- reducing the number of people exposed to second hand smoke.
The following projects are examples of HNEPH’s efforts to improve the health of Hunter New England residents.
