2012 Immunisation Education/Workshops Calendars
2012 calendars will be available mid January
Authorised Nurse Immunisers are authorised to initiate (assess clients suitability) immunisation of individuals 
and administer vaccine in accordance with the National Health & Medical Research Councils recommendations. These recommendations are set out in the current edition of the Australian Immunisation Handbook 9th.
It is each Authorised Nurse Immunisers legal responsibility to ensure that he/she at all times meets the authoritys requirements. Attendance at one session in a calendar year, together with annual CPR certification, ensures your responsibilities under this authority are met.

- All HNE employees: MUST register via MY LINK (prior to the date) to ensure this training is included on your development record
- Any HNE employee who is attending an update for the first time must also complete registration form as below.

Please Note:
- In 2012 annual updates will have a limit of 30 attendees per session
- You should be registered at least one calendar month prior to the session you wish to attend.
- Registration needs to be attended at least 1 week before the session.
- Book early to avoid disappointment & avoid the end of year rush

Immunisation Education Calendar for non-authorised nurses & other staff involved in immunisation
Hunter New England in conjunction with the Divisions of General Practice provide education sessions for all staff who receives or handles vaccine consignments or gives basic immunisation advice to clients. This may be a registered nurse who is not authorised to immunise by authority of the NSW Poisons Act (that is, has not undertaken the College of Nursing immunisation course), an enrolled nurse, practice manager or receptionist.

Pre-authorisation Workshops Calendar
Hunter New England Health Immunisation Unit conducts free pre-authorisation workshops to assist & support those undertaking The College of Nursing Immunisation Course for Registered Nurses, by external study.
Objective
Practical support to understand requirements of the course questions, to enable completion in own your time to the standard required by the College of Nursing. The workshop will assist you to:
- Understand and access relevant resources in order to adequately answer the questions
- Identify key components of questions and what you should focus on in your responses
- Understand referencing and academic writing to meet College of Nursing course requirements
Hours times may vary for different venues and the number of nurses in the group.

All workshop attendees must be enrolled in The College of Nursing Immunisation Course for Registered Nurses, prior to commencement of the workshop. This will enable you to familiarise yourself with the course resource package which will enhance your participation in the pre-authorisation workshop.
