Acute Response

The Acute Response team provides investigation and prevention services in response to infectious disease outbreaks, environmental health threats and emergencies.

 

Capacity Building

Building the capacity of health agencies to provide preventive care to achieve sustainable , positive health outcomes for the population. Examples include the incorporation of chronic disease prevention strategies into routine health service delivery within hospitals and community health centres eg identifying patients that smoke, and supporting them to quit ; working with education and the media to reduce childhood obesity. Priority health areas include tobacco, childhood obesity, alcohol, falls prevention and sexual health promotion.

 

Health Intelligence

The health intelligence team is involved in the ongoing systematic collection, assembly, analysis, interpretation and communication of population health data. Information is used to:

  • Monitor the health and well-being of Hunter New England residents.
  • Stimulate response to emerging health and welfare problems.
  • Formulate policies.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate services and programs.


Regulation and Compliance 

The Regulation & Compliance team provides services that focus on increasing compliance with laws, policies, the Public Health Act and other relevant legislation and guidelines designed to protect the health of the community. Examples include monitoring of water quality, compliance monitoring regarding tobacco legislation and the responsible service of alcohol.
