Training, Education and Knowledge Development

Clinical Governance provides a number of training, education and professional development opportunities during the year.

The highlight of the internal quality and safety professional development calendar is the Annual HNE Health Quality Exposition and Scientific Program, which has been held for the past three years, and is run in conjunction with the Annual HNE Health Achievement and Quality Awards.

The Annual Quality Exposition and Scientific Program brings together external and internal clinical and academic leaders in quality and safety, and is a special opportunity to hear from these speakers, who are asked to encourage their audience to think outside the square. Past keynote speakers have included Professor Chris Baggoley, Chief Executive of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, Professor Cliff Hughes, Chief Executive of the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission, Dr Mary Chiarella, Professor of Nursing at teh University of Sydney and Professor Michael Ward, Commissioner of the Health Quality and Complaints Commission in Queesland. Feedback from participants about these Programs has been very positive, in relation to the value provided in relation to learning and education.

In addition to this Clinical Governance provide training in core quality and patient safety functions, as well as in-service and specifically designed education seminars.

Core training sessions include:

  • Clinical Governance - Principles and Strategies
  • Tools of the Trade - Quality Improvement Methodology
  • Incident Management - Use of the Incident Information Management System (IIMS)
  • Complaints Management

Education and In-Service sessions include:
