To give the best  possible health care to patients, health care providers need to involve patients in making health care decisions.

There may come a time in the future that you are not able to make your own medical decisions. Through accident, illness or disability, you may lose your capacity to make medical decisions, and while you are incapable, your doctor will need to ask someone close to you to say yes or no to medical treatment for you.
