Quality Committee
The Quality Committee provides a forum for consumer representatives and representatives of Hunter New England Health Quality Committees, established via cluster and acute networks, to provide leadership for improving the quality of healthcare in Hunter New England Health and to advise the Chief Executive and Executive on issues affecting the quality of the services.
The Committee shall provide recommendations to the Chief Executive for approval to the following scope of activities:
- Strategic, rather than operational, discussions on Quality and include but are not limited to:
- Direction (goals and strategy)
- Development and implementation of the Area Quality Plan consistent with the NSW Health Framework for Quality
- Monitoring and accountability
- The Quality Indicator Report
- Providing advice to the CE on structures/processes to measure, report and improve the quality of healthcare.
- Providing advice to the CE on key performance indicators
- Exercise of authority
- Providing input to policy development where appropriate for ongoing development and improvement in health status of the population, quality of service and care, equity in access to services and responsiveness of services to priority community needs.
- Corporate direction transparency and accountability
- Stakeholder engagement
- Process for responding to issues as they arise from line management
- Process for incorporating the consumer perspective of quality health care into the work of the Committee

- Staff Specialist Geriatrician
- Representative from each Area Clinical Council
- Representative from GP Advisory Committee
- Area Quality Manager
- Consumer representatives
- Representatives from Cluster and Network Quality Committees
