Frequently Asked Questions

What change does this mean for me?

The clusters and hospital groupings will become effective as soon as recruitment for Cluster Managers and Acute Hospital Network Managers is completed. We will keep you posted on the timing for this.

Recruitment to the positions of Cluster Managers and Acute Hospital Network Managers will take place in due course. In the meantime, services continue to be managed in the same way, with the current reporting lines.

Does this mean my manager has changed? Is someone else going to take over control of my budget?

No. Your current reporting and management arrangements remain in place.

Why adopt new terminology for facilities and when does this become effective?

To create clarity and understanding among members of our health service and our communities, it's important we use common language. That is the reason we will immediately adopt the common terminology for Hunter New England Health facilities, including the use of the following terms:

  • Mental Health Hospital (rather than "psychiatric hospital")
  • Community Health Service
  • Community Hospital and Multipurpose Centre
  • District Health Service
  • Rural Referral Hospital
  • Tertiary Referral Hospital

A description for each term can be found in the document on Service Definitions and Clusters PDF File (pdf) 5.02M

Please begin using the new facility title from now on correspondence.

You will begin to see the new terminology reflected in official documents, stationery templates, our website etc. straight away. However, we realise some changes will take a bit longer: Over time, there will be changes to signs, telephone book listings etc to reflect common terminology.

Does this mean we have to organise a new sign for our facility?

Not at this stage. When NSW Health issues its guidelines on corporate style, we will develop an Area-wide approach to signage and provide templates and advice on how to order new signs using the appropriate language and logo.

What if my staff or I have more questions?

Please email them to ceo.news@hnehealth.nsw.gov.au and we will be happy to answer them.
