The John Hunter Hospital Pharmacy is focused on delivering quality drug treatment for all our patients. Our dedicated staff work side-by-side with doctors, nurses and midwives to ensure the best choice of medicine, the right dose and length of treatment.
Pharmacists at John Hunter offer a wide range of services to patients, families, carers and staff, advising on matters relating to the dispensing, preparation, supply and use of medicines. The hospital pharmacist can also provide important advice about possible side effects and interactions with other medicines or food. Information leaflets are available to help patients and carers understand medicines better and how these can be taken wisely.
Patients attending the outpatient clinics at the hospital may also utilise the services of the hospital pharmacy, which provides access to medicines not normally obtained through community pharmacies. The pharmacy is open for outpatient supply of medicines from 8.45am to 5.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Tuesday from 9.15am to 5.30pm.
