MRI machine on site at Tamworth Hospital

The eagerly anticipated MRI machine has arrived on-site at Tamworth Hospital. The 7.5 tonne top-of-the-line machine was delivered to the hospital after leaving the factory in Germany.

The machine was unloaded from the truck by crane and transported through the Acute Services Building via a purpose-built equipment portal. It then travelled along a load bearing pathway to its final destination in medical imaging.

Hunter New England has invested $2.5 million in the purchase of this machine, exterior supporting equipment and specialised fit-out of the MRI’s room.

Installation of the machine and extensive specialised staff training is now underway before the service will be up and running for inpatients at Tamworth Hospital in early 2018.
