​Narrabri Hospital

Narrabri Hospital has a five-bed maternity unit and one birthing room with a bath for water immersion during labour. 

Narrabri maternity services requests that all women book in to birth prior to the 14th week of pregnancy. 

​The hospital serves people in the towns and areas around Narrabri, Wee Waa, Burren Junction, Pilliga, Walgett and Coonabarabran.

Models of care offered  

  • GP/Midwife Shared Care – Clinic held on Thursdays 8am – 4.30pm​
  • GP/Narrabri Aboriginal Mothers and Babies (AMIHS) shared care service for Aboriginal women providing antenatal care. Care in labour is provided in collaboration with hospital midwives.
  • GP/GP Obstetrician: Antenatal care in doctor’s rooms
  • Specialist High Risk Pregnancy clinic held in Moree once per month which women in the Narrabri area can be referred to.​​

Parenting education

Birth and parenting classes are held regularly on Thursday evenings, 7pm – 9pm and run for 4 weeks. Please phone the maternity unit to book into the birth and parenting classes.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours at Narrabri hospital are 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm. Some exceptions are made for the partner or support person of the birthing woman.
