Armidale Hospital is a Rural Referral Hospital and is part of the Acute Hospital Network. The hospital is a fully modernised and equipped institution. The hospital has a surgical ward, medical ward, paediatric ward, obstetric unit, day surgery unit, rehabilitation ward, psychiatric unit and intensive care unit. A privately operated recent generation CT scanner is located in close proximity to the hospital.
The regional base hospital at Tamworth is located one hour away. Armidale is well serviced by general practitioners and has a friendly and close-knit medical community that interacts well both professionally and socially.
Armidale Hospital is a 99 bed facility providing a comprehensive range of services. Our services include acute medical and surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics and a range of diagnostic and allied health services. There is also a busy emergency department, a high dependency unit, mental health unit and renal dialysis unit.
Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy and palliative care. Visiting speciality services offered include renal and oncology. These services are supported by four local specialist physicians and several general practitioners. Surgical services include general, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology and ophthalmology. The hospital is a spacious, modern and well-equipped facility.
Hours of operation: Reception is staffed from 8.30 am – 5.00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Emergency Department is open 24 hours each day. The front doors of the hospital are open 6.00am - 8.00pm daily, with visitors asked to enter via the Emergency Department outside of these hours.
Visiting hours: Visiting hours are from 11.00 a.m. - 8.00 p.m. During these hours phone calls can be put through to the bedside if circumstances allow. Between 1.30pm - 3.30pm some wards are closed to encourage patients / clients to have a rest. Please check with the ward's staff.
Community Health Centre
Armidale Community Health Centre is located at the hospital campus and offers a diverse range of community based services. The centre offers a range of community based health services to all members of the community. No referral or income assessment required. The centre is located in Clair House on the grounds of the Armidale Health Service.

- Community nursing (including early childhood, diabetes, hearing, home nursing, immunization, palliative care and women's health)

Hours of operation: 8.30 am to 4.50 pm weekdays.
Parking: The Armidale Community Health Centre is located on the corner of Butler and Rusden Streets, Armidale. Free all day parking is available in both streets as well as the visitor parking off Butler Street.
